Reading
Peter Mayle - Provence trilogy
Three books about moving to Provence from England, he started out just taking vacations there but then fell in love with the place and moved permanently. They are really funny, all about having to learn french of course and how to get along with all his country neighbours. The books are, A year in Provence, Toujour's Provence and Encore Provence.

Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus - The Nanny Diaries
It caused quite a stir when it came out. It's written by 2 women who used to be nannies to very wealthy New York families. It is fiction but based on facts, the way they were treated was unbelivable! I think Marielle can relate, I think she also had a bad experience as an 'au pair'.

Jacques Salomé - Contes à guérir, contes à grandir (not English translated)
Marvelous book made of everyday life's tales, to read non stop in order to cover with nice words the small and bigger life's bugs. Written by a professional in human relationships, those tales are full of cool things, emotions and gravities. These clear metaphors are for parents, and will bring to them the hidden, intense and sometimes painful world of their child. You can recognize yourself as an adult in some of the tales because each one can be your own personal story.
