Author :![]() ![]() ![]() I know (frankly speaking I guess) that some of you are not full computer technicians. We are some in France to use, since a few months, MSN Messenger. I would like to explain what we're doing and maybe convince you to join us ... I am everything but a happy Microsoft products user. Not because Microsoft is a multinational trust company neither Bill Gates doesn't look nice. But this firm products are all imperfect, not well debugged, and most of all, they are very expensive for what they are and compared to most of their competitors giving much more services for a far less computer resources use. It's a consequence of the dishonest (commercially speaking) behavior of Microsoft, if today I propose you to use MSN Messenger software. Indeed if you use Windows 98 or higher (2000, XP or other) this software is pre-installed (maybe without you knowing) in your computer. You only need a few clicks to reactivate it. We use the chat to quickly exchange brief news, or tricks about what we're doing on the Net (or sometimes tell each other stupid things). As we have a web cam, Fabien, Nadège and Alexandre were able to see the firsts Zoe steps live. We also use the audio to phone each other with the only ASDL subscription fees. Even with an CTN (usual phone) connection (the Marielle, Laurent and Nina one i.e.) it works quite well. With the file transfer stuff we sometimes exchange our last photographs. With that little text I just wanted to invite the Dutch, Canadians or other French (if they are some left) to join us so that you can see us from time to time, so that we can easily talk to each others (without paying international calls) ... You should do that on your personal home computer, firms usually doesn't like you to use the broad-band for personal purpose. If you are interested in, send me an Email, I'll make a few things on my MSN Messenger in order to send you back the instructions. Simply talking you must register in the NET Passport Microsoft system. Lie for all the parameters except your Email address. Looking toward to ear you soon live maybe ? Chris. |

Author : ![]() ![]() ![]() The aim of this site is the familial sharing and exchanging. The site will be : 1. The central family information exchange place 2. The family "showcase" 3. The memory book 4. Whatever each one would like too share with other family members. The center of this former web weaving is Virginie Midey and Christophe Narcy family. One of the interests is Christophe's family, which is world wide and then very culturally diversified. So the site will be dealing with more than the only family subject, but a cultural exchanging place. Information inside the web site : The goal is to build a living object. A family book constantly enriching. Here are some basic subject we might find online (this list can be enrich as you wish) : 1. Short presentations (of families and/or of persons). 2. Photos, holiday or traveling reports (spend with the family or not), or articles about yourself, one of your activity, about your job, the place you live, etc ... 3. News about the family events, recent or coming soon. 4. Some more « personal » pages, free expressive. I.e. : cultural tastes, sharing cooking recipes, souvenirs, etc ... 5. Web links about the family, and other personal links. 6. A place with the things we like at that moment (the "fond of ..." area). I.e. : « the book I'm reading, or I like now » or « the ultimate Cd », etc ... Later on ... If the web site works, i.e. it is regularly visited and updated, we could imagine adding : 1. A historical place, with articles about the family old times. 2. More precise articles about some events or activities of the family or one of his members. Operational and formal constraint : The web site MUST be in two language versions : one in French, the other in English (a Dutch version is not forecast but it might be possible if it is really useful and if someone wants to cope with the translating). The information, each one material, should be centralized. It should be uniformly looking because of legibility and to show a pleasing web site to visit. It should be translated in order to be duplicated in each language version of the site. Therefore every information to be published on the web site should be processed through a single person : the web master Christophe Narcy. Please send as soon as possible your contributions Christophe will format and publish it in one of the site item. The only thing to keep in mind is the following : The site should be attractive, living, cool and the reader should spend a good moment. The eventual limitations : The web site contain some personal information. Event if it's not the aim, any person might, as a hazard or not, visit the site. Information might be as following : first and last name, and in the who's who section, place and date of birth, family information, town you live in, kind of job you have. You might also appear on a picture. Of course if it annoys you, you have to tell the webmaster (Email him i.e.) and anything you don't want to be published online will be instantly removed. Maybe later on it should be necessary to have some parts of the web site being password controlled. If the web site works well, it might be possible that the number of person participating to the site increases too much. I.e. the web site should lead to nowhere and concerned less and less the original families. Stronger criteria for who is to participate the web site should therefore be taken. But if one day we are at this point, then that would mean that the site works terrific and is really living. The bet would be won and the target aim reached. Compiègne, November the 24th, 2002. |
