Author :![]() ![]() ![]() Hands to the plough : programming I’m a beginner in HTML. It’s not very complicated. But in computing, I like well done and clean things. Thought, I didn’t use any HTML auto-generating program (which creates files 10 times bigger than necessary). It’s only goldsmith work, hands to the plough. I’m trying to show you a first site version made of pure HTML. I didn’t use the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) technology, thought I don’t now it well wet. Neither CGI scripts nor PHP or other tools still too complicated for me. But in the future I’m about to give the web site some evolutions, an put in some more interactivity. For the moment, I keep going typing in order to build the site with the most accurate loading delay / content ratio. About the content, as I’m alone and the site not online yet it’s difficult ! It’s out of question to show you something with poor content, full of « constructing » pages and dead ends. Another technical detail : browsers compliance. I’ve build the design based on tables (those who have some HTML knowledge will understand); in order to make the site complying the best with different screen sizes and monitor configurations. If you possess an “old” monitor showing 640 x 780 pixels configuration you should see the site properly. I’ve build it with a 800 x 600 pixels resolution monitor, under Netscape 7. I’ve already noticed that it looks completely different with Microsoft Internet Explorer (see it in the bottom).
If you don’t have any preferences, I do have one : I would prefer you watching the site with Netscape. (note necessarily version 7) The default setting of this browser comes closer the visual impressions I wanted to give initially. With Internet Explorer you lose a bit of the “soul” I wanted to put in the site. Those looking differences should reduce the day I’ll implement the CSS technology.
